Setting up of New Food Processing Industries

FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government proposes to set up any new food processing industry in Uttar Pradesh during the current financial year;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the details of the proposed incentives likely to be provided to the willing industrialists for setting up such industries?

(a): Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) does not setup food processing industries on its own. However, MoFPI has approved 20 food processing units in Uttar Pradesh during the current financial year under Scheme for Creation/Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).

(b): The details of food processing units approved during the current Financial Year in Uttar Pradesh are at Annexure.

(c): Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) i s implementing a Scheme for Creation/Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC) under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) fo r setting up/expansion o f food processing industries in the country. Under the scheme, grants-in-aid @ 35% of the eligible project cost is provided in General Areas and 50% of the eligible project cost in North Eastern States including Sikkim and Difficult areas including Himalayan States (Himachal Pradesh, J&K & Uttarakhand), notified ITDP areas and Islands subject to a maximum of Rs.5.00 crore.

The food processing units can be setup in Mega Food Parks (MFPs), Agro Processing Clusters (APC) and Designated Food Parks (DFPs) notified by the Ministry from time to time. However, in States / UTs having no MFP, APC or DFP, the food processing units may be setup anywhere in the State / UT.

Further, the units having majority stake of SC / ST promoter(s) and with an eligible project cost of more than Rs. 5 (five) crore can be set up at any location in the country.

MoFPI has issued Expression of Interest (EOI) for inviting online proposals from interested entrepreneurs / investors for setting up of food processing units in the country. The closing date of submission of online proposals is 31.03.2019. The interested entrepreneurs / investors may submit their proposals for setting up of food processing units in the country including Uttar Pradesh.
