BASIC AMENITIES IN UNAUTHORISED COLONIES

URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-




(a) whether the residents of some of the unauthorized colonies do not have basic facilities like roads, light, drinking water and sewerage/ drainage;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government in this regard;

(d) whether development works are not being undertaken in these colonies even after issuance of guidelines/order by the Government of Delhi and his Ministry; and

(e) if so, the reasons therefor and the action taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?


ANSWER


THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT (SHRI BABUL SUPRIYO)

(a) to (e): Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD) has reported that development works have been taken up so far in 1264 unauthorized colonies. An amount of Rs. 3547.89 crores have been spent up to 31st March, 2014 through the executing agencies, i.e. Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (DSIIDC), Irrigation & Flood Control Department, Delhi Jal Board, Public Works Department and Municipal Corporations of Delhi. Development work orders have been issued in respect of 532 unauthorized colonies other than 895 unauthorized colonies out of which 407 unauthorized colonies do not fulfill the conditions in the regulation issued by Govt. of India. In addition, development work cannot be taken up on the forest and Archaeological Survey of India affected land falling within the boundaries of unauthorized colonies and also on the land on which Right of Way and other infrastructural facilities have been provisioned in the Master Plan of Delhi – 2021.
