Will the Minister of



AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state:-


(a) the details of the share of small farmers during the last three years as compared to those of the warehousing companies, farm implement manufacturers and other agribusiness companies, as far as availing farm credit facility is concerned, year and State-wise;

(b) whether it is true that only private insurance companies have been roped in for implementation of PMFBY in various States;

(c) if so, whether the Government has received a request from State Government of Haryana to include State owned insurance company to implement the PMFBY; and

(d) if so, the response of the Government thereto?

(a): Such comparative information is not available with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the agricultural credit disbursal agencies.

(b): No, Madam. Total 18 general insurance companies including all the 5 public sector general insurance companies and 13 Private Sector general insurance companies are presently empanelled for implementation of Crop Insurance Schemes in the country.

(c) & (d): Yes, Madam. All the States/Union Territories have been allowed to establish their own companies subject to the condition that the crop insurance work may be allotted only to L-1 bidder.
