PAN Cards

Will the Minister of



FINANCE be pleased to state:-


(a) the total number of PAN cards issued in India as on date;

(b) the percentage of PAN cards issued to individuals/Hindu undivided families;

(c) the percentage of these are held respectively by companies, trusts, societies and NGOs;

(d) the number of PAN cards that have been cancelled due to non-linkage of Aadhaar card; and

(e) whether the Government has taken note of a drop in pension payment since the implementation of Aadhaar and if so, the details thereof?


ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE:

(a) As on 31.07.2017, 32,68,25,653 Permanent Account Numbers (PANs) have been issued.

(b)&(c) Desired information is as under:

Information in the names of ‘NGOs’/ ‘Societies’ is not maintained in PAN database.

(d) Till date, no PAN card has been cancelled due to non-linkage of Aadhaar.

(e) In this regard, no information is maintained in Central Board of Direct Taxes. However, as informed by Central Pension Accounting Office (Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance) and National Social Assistance Programme (Ministry of Rural Development), no drop in pension payment since the implementation of Aadhaar has been noticed.
