Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the total number of beneficiaries under the Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) during the last three years;

(b) the name of the diseases covered under the said scheme and name of hospitals empanelled therein;

(c) the total amount of financial support received in RAN during the above period;

(d) whether a revolving fund of Rs. fifty lakhs has been placed at the disposal of Central Government hospitals for providing financial assistance to the BPL patients and if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government proposes to raise the amount of financial assistance from Rs. two lakhs to five lakhs in case where emergency surgery is to be conducted and if so, the details thereof; and

(f) the steps the Government proposes to take to increase the awareness about RAN?

(a): Total no of beneficiaries under RAN during the last three years is 1140. Year-wise break up is as below:
I. 376 beneficiaries in 2015-16
II. 429 beneficiaries in 2014-15
III. 335 beneficiaries in 2013-14

(b): An illustrative list of categories of treatment to be provided from the Fund is given in the Annexure I. The RAN was set up to provide financial assistance to patients, living below poverty line and who are suffering from major life threatening diseases, to receive medical treatment at any of the super speciality Government Hospitals/Institutes or other Government hospitals.

(c): The budgetary allocation under RAN during the years 2013-14 to 2015-16, totalled Rs. 5690 lakh.


(d) & (e): Yes. Revolving Funds have been set up in 13 Central Government Hospitals/Institutes and funds up to Rs. 50 lakh are placed at their disposal for providing treatment upto Rs. 2 lakh in each case and up to Rs. 5 lakh in emergency cases. List of Central Government hospitals/Institutes, where revolving funds have been set up, is at Annexure-II.

(f): The various steps taken by the Government to increase awareness about the RAN Scheme, inter-alia, include letters to the State Governments for publicizing the Scheme in their respective States, Press Note in the leading newspapers of the country giving information about the Scheme, uploading all details regarding the Scheme, viz documents required, eligibility criteria, procedure and contact details for queries, publication of an Appeal in the newspapers disseminating information about the Scheme and circulation of Scheme details in pamphlet format to all State Health Directors/Central Institutions and Hospitals.
