(c): Coal India Limited (CIL) has increased its production from 462.41 Mte. in 2013-14 to 538.75 Mte. in 2015-16. The increase of 76 Mte in actual production achieved by CIL in two years is almost 2.4 times more than the cumulative increase in production for the previous 4 years of 31 Mte.

(d): In every year, 3 to 5 billion tonne of coal reserve is being added in Indian Coal inventory as estimated by GSI whereas yearly all India coal production is around 0.7 Bt. There is no possibility of Indian coal resources being exhausted in near future. In order to increase the domestic production of coal to meet the demand from indigenous sources, the Government has taken a number of steps which include efforts to expedite Environment clearances & Forest clearances, pursuing with State Government for assistance in land acquisition and coordinated effort with Railways for movement of coal. A roadmap has been prepared by CIL to substantially enhance production of coal by 2019-20. This includes capacity addition from new projects, use of mass production technologies and identification of existing on-going projects with growth potential.
