Demolition of Slums

Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether a number of slums in Sanjay Gandhi Camp, Paschim Vihar, Delhi, were demolished by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in the year of 2007 and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether all the families have been given alternative plots;

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not the reason therefor along with the time by which all the families are likely to be given alternative plots;

(d) whether the Government proposes to provide permanent houses to the slum dwellers of Indira Camp, Vikaspuri, Delhi; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the time by which permanent houses are likely to be provided to these slum dwellers?


ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT

(RAO INDERJIT SINGH)

(a) to (c): Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has informed that 93 jhuggies were demolished in June, 2007, at Sanjay Gandhi Camp near Sunshine Apartment, Paschim Vihar. Out of these 46 evictees have been found to be eligible for allotment of alternative plot at Bawana.

(d) and (e): No such proposal is under consideration.
