MINISTER OF STATE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT

(a) to (c): The Government is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) in the country including Maharashtra with the vision of extending the coverage of irrigation ‘Har Khet ko pani’ and improving water use efficiency ‘More crop per drop'' in a focused manner with end to end solution on source creation, distribution, management, field application and extension activities. The program is composed of three components namely Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (MoWR , RD & GR), PMKSY (Per Drop More Crop) implemented by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare (DAC & FW) and (Watershed Development) PMKSY implemented by the Department of Land Resources (DoLR). Ministry of Agriculture is the nodal ministry for implementing PMKSY.

Under this programme funds are provided to the States by the MoWR , RD & GR through various schemes such as Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP), Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of water bodies, Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI) etc. to supplement the efforts of the State Government to encourage sustainable development and efficient management of water resources. Funds are also provided by DAC & FW for creation of precision irrigation facilities for enhancing water use efficiency and supplementing micro water storage structures and by DoLR for implementation of watershed projects as per the Common Guidelines for Watershed Development Projects 2008 (Revised Edition 2011) of the erstwhile Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).

As per the information received from MoWR, RD & GR, under PMKSY 99 Major/Medium projects have been identified in consultation with states, to be completed in phases by Dec 2019. Out of these 99 projects, 26 projects are of the Maharashtra State. As per information received from the DAC, & FW, an area of 3670 ha has been covered under drip and sprinkler irrigation system in Nashik district during 2015-16. Further, under the watershed development component of the PMKSY, 1186 projects have been sanctioned by DoLR in Maharashtra state covering an area of 51.28 lakh ha with a total cost of Rs 6517.49 crores and an amount of Rs. 1784.46 crore has been released to the State as central share. Out of the projects sanctioned in Maharashtra, 41 projects covering an area of 1.8 lakh ha at a cost of Rs 270.20 crore have been sanctioned in the Nashik District for various activities including construction of soil and moisture conservation structures namely contour trenches, compartment bunds in agricultural land, field terracing, earthen and loose boulder nala plugs and water harvesting structures namely cement and eathern nala bunds, farm ponds etc. The projects are in various stages of implementation.
