HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-


(a) whether in the absence of proper landfills for solid waste and improper waste collection and segregation, severe problems including health related problems are being caused to the residents of the NCT of Delhi, especially in places such as Bawana; and

(b) if so, the action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): The Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD) has informed that no scientific study has been conducted by the Municipal Corporations of Delhi regarding health related problems in this regard.

(b): The GNCTD has informed that the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi have taken sufficient measures for collection of solid waste by deploying handcrafts, cycle rickshaws and auto-tippers for primary collection of solid waste from collection points and subsequently transporting the solid waste through tipper trucks at Sanitary Landfill sites and waste to energy plants, as per requirement.

LS.USQ.No. 2964 FOR 15.3.2016

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has informed that it has a proper disposal facility for Municipal Solid Waste which is situated at Narela-Bawana (Integrated Waste Processing/Disposal Facility). This facility includes Compost Plant for converting garbage into manure, Refuse Derived Fuel and proper Engineered Sanitary Landfill Site for disposal of residue. At present, this plant handles 2000 MT of Municipal Solid Waste per day for processing in scientific manner.
