YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government/Sports Authority of India (SAI) has
constituted any monitoring Committee to ensure ''Medical
assistance and insurance'' under SAI Training Centres (STC) Scheme
and if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise;
(b) the total amount spent for the purpose during each of the last
three years;
(c) the number of schemes implemented and the total amount
spent for the development of the Lakshmibai National College of
Physical Education (LNCPE), Thiruvananthapuram; and
(d) whether LNCPE has become a part of the academic wing of
the SAI and if so, the details thereof?

REGARDING MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND INSURANCE ASKED BY
DR. UDIT RAJ.
(a) & (b): No Madam. However, the Sports Authority of India (SAI)
Regional Offices monitor the implementation of the medical and
insurance policy under the SAI Training Centre Scheme. Apart from
various benefits extended to the sports-persons selected under
various SAI Sports Promotional Schemes, the trainees under the SAI
Training Centre Scheme (STC) are also provided with medical
assistance and insurance cover during their training. Under the
accidental insurance, the trainees are insured for Rs 1.00 lakh and a
premium of Rs.150/- per trainee is spent for this purpose.
The Region-wise details of expenditure incurred on medical
assistance and insurance under STC Scheme during each of the last
three years are as under:-

(c ) The following schemes are being implemented in the State of
Kerala under SAI Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education
(LNCPE).
1. Special Area Games (SAG)
2. SAI Training Centre (STC)
3. SAG/STC Extension Centre
4. Centre of Excellence (CoE)
The total amount spent for the development of LNCPE,
Thiruvananthapuram (institution) under Capital Works is Rs.52.15
crores.
(d) Yes, Madam. LNCPE, Thiruvananthapuram has become a part
of the academic wing of the SAI. It is affiliated to the University of
Kerala and it offers the following courses:
1. Bachelor of Physical Education ( BPEd – 04 years)
2. Master of Physical Education (MPEd – 02 years)
3. Master of Philosophy (M Phil – 01 year)
4. NIS Diploma in Sports Coaching (Water Sports – 01 year)
