(a) whether the Government proposes to allow private operators for clean fuel PNG penetration to all households and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether private operators/suppliers are making PNG available to the households in Indore, Madhya Pradesh; and (c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

STATEMENT REFERRED IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF THE LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *420 ASKED BY SHRI SHANKAR LALWANI TO BE ANSWERED ON MARCH 23, 2020 REGARDING PRIVATE OPERATORS IN PNG SUPPLY (a) to (c) Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is the authority to grant authorization to the entities for the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Geographical Areas (GAs) as per PNGRB Act, 2006. Providing PNG connection to household is part of development of CGD network and the same is carried out by the entities viz. Public Sector Undertaking (PSU)/ subsidiary of PSU/ Joint Venture (JV) of PSUs/ Private Company/JV of PSU and Private Company etc. authorized by PNGRB based on techno-commercial viability of area. So far PNGRB has authorized 230 GAs for development of CGD network across country up to 10th CGD Bidding Round covering more than 400 districts in the country in 27 States/UTs. Avantika Gas Limited (AGL) has been authorized for development of CGD network in Indore (including Ujjain City) GA on 31.08.2009. Further, PNGRB has authorized Gujarat Gas Limited for remaining part of Indore District for development of CGD network under 10th CGD bidding round as part of GA of Ujjain (Except area already authorized) District, Dewas (Except area already authorized) District and Indore (Except area already authorized) District on 29.03.2019. *****
