Based on the study by the National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad and the recommendations of the Working Group on PURA, the Scheme was restructured and approved by Government on 21st January 2010 for implementation on a pilot basis under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. Under the first batch of the restructured PURA scheme (PURA 1.0), 9 projects were considered for implementation. The Inter-Ministerial Empowered Committee has approved six of these projects for implementation - two in Kerala (Malappuram and Thrissur districts), two in Andhra Pradesh (Krishna and Warangal districts) and one each in Uttarakhand (Dehradun district) and Rajasthan (Rajsamand district).
