HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-




(a) the amount spent by the Government on education out of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ; and

(b) whether the Government is considering to raise spending on education out of GDP in the current year and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (b): As per the data available with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, the Government Expenditure on Education and as percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the last three years is as under:

The above trend represents a determined effort on the part of the Central Government for raising public spending on education sector.
