RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-


(a) the details of roads identified for development under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Kozhikode, in particular and other districts of Kerala, in general;

(b) the total funds sanctioned, spent and un-spent under the scheme during the last three years particularly in Kozhikode district and in the State of Kerala, in general; and

(c) the manner in which the Government proposes to speed up the road connectivity?

(a) to (c): A Statement is laid on the Table of the House.

Statement referred to in reply to Parts (a) to (c) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No. *138 due for answer on 11.02.2020

(a): The State of Kerala has been sanctioned its full entitlement under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-I and PMGSY-II. Details of district-wise roads sanctioned and completed under PMGSY-I and PMGSY-II including Kozhikode district of Kerala is at Annexure. Under PMGSY-III, 1425 km road length has been allocated to the State of Kerala and the state has initiated planning activities for road identification.

(b): The total funds sanctioned, utilized and unspent under PMGSY during the last three years in the State of Kerala and Kozhikode district are as under:-

(c): The progress of implementation of rural roads under PMGSY is regularly monitored by way of Regional Review Meetings (RRMs), Performance Review Committee (PRC) Meetings, Pre-Empowered/Empowered Committee Meetings, Video Conference with the State. At District level, the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) headed by a Member of Parliament (LS) monitors the implementation of various schemes of Government of India including PMGSY. In addition to this, special review meetings are also held by Secretary/ Additional Secretary/ Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development with Chief Secretaries/ Principal Secretaries of the States.
