Skill Training under DDU-GKY

RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:-


(a) the manner in which the youths are being provided skill training under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY);

(b) whether any special learning project has also been formulated for them and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether they are getting adequate opportunities of employment after implementation of the said scheme and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the rural youth are getting financial benefits thereafter and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) : A Statement is laid on the table of the House.
Statement referred to in reply to Parts (a) to (d) of Lok Sabha Starred Question No.134 due for answer on 11.02.2020

(a) The rural youth are provided placement linked skill training under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). The duration of training courses ranges from 576 Hours to 2304 Hours based on courses aligned with National Skill Qualification Framework. Trainees are trained through theory, practical, exposure and On Job Training as per mandate of the course.

(b) For adding value to skill training, a special component of Soft Skills is included in the DDU-GKY training program. For 576 hrs course,160 hrs of Soft & IT Skill consisting of English (60hrs), Computer (80hrs) and Soft Skill (20hrs) are there. For 1152 hrs course, 320 hrs of Soft & IT Skill consisting of English (120hrs), Computer (160hrs) and Soft Skill (40hrs) are there. For 1728 hrs course, 480 hrs of Soft & IT Skill consisting of English (180 hrs), Computer (240 hrs) and Soft Skill (60hrs) are there and for 12 month course, it should be at least 576 hours.

(c) DDU-GKY provides for a minimum placement of 70% trained candidates for claiming full cost of project by Project Implementation Agency (PIA). A total of 9.88 lakh candidates have been trained and 6.01 lakh candidates have been placed since 2014-15 till December, 2019.

(d) There is a provision of payment of Post Placement Support (PPS) of Rs. 1000 per candidate per month for 2 months if placed within district of domicile, Rs. 1000 per candidate per month for 3 months if placed within State of domicile and Rs. 1000 per candidate per month for 6 months, if placed outside State of domicile. For candidates of Himayat being implemented in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh, there is a provision of post placement support of Rs. 2000 per candidate per month for six months.
