Allocation of Pulses under PDS

AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE be pleased to state:-


(a) whether the Government has implemented any scheme to provide pulses to the States at concessional rates under Public Distribution System (PDS) and other public welfare schemes;

(b) if so, the names of the States which have been allocated pulses including the quantum of pulses allocated, State-wise;

(c) the total amount of subsidy provided under this scheme and the number of persons benefited, State-wise;

(d) whether pulses have been allocated to the State of Jharkhand under this scheme; and
(e) if so, the details thereof including the quantum of pulses allocated and the number of beneficiaries who have received pulses, district-wise?

(a) to (e): A statement is laid on the Table of the House.

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 133 DUE FOR REPLY ON 11TH FEBRUARY, 2020.
(a): Yes Sir. Government has implemented a scheme for releasing of pulses to States/ Union Territories on their request from the stock of pulses procured under Price Support Scheme (PSS), by way of distribution to States/ UTs for utilization under various welfare schemes like Mid-day-Meal (MDM), Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Public Distribution System (PDS), etc. with Central Subsidy of Rs. 15 per Kg. over the “issue price” as a “One time Measure” on “First Come-First Serve” and “First in-First Out” (FIFO) basis for a period of 12 months or till PSS pulses stock of 34.88 lakh MT lasts, whichever is earlier. The above scheme was implemented from October 2018 to September, 2019.
(b): The name of the States and the quantum of pulses allocated State-wise is at Annexure-I.
(c): The total amount of central subsidy for the allocated stock is Rs 1496.85 crore. The number of persons benefited under the scheme state-wise is at Annexure-II.
(d) & (e): No indent was received from Government of Jharkhand under the scheme.
